Inaccessibility of iWork in Android &Windows

iWork is a powerful productivity suite from Apple Inc. that includes Pages for word processing, Numbers for spreadsheets, and Keynote for presentations. iWork suite is inbuilt office application suite from Apple; however, it is not compatible with Windows operating system and is completely dependent Apple’s Ecosystem. In this article, we'll take a closer look at the limitations of iWork and how unavailability of cross-platform support is impacting productivity.

Restrictions of iWork for Windows and Android Users
For cross-platform Windows users, the lack of iWork compatibility is a major drawback. The only way to access iWork is through a Mac or iOS device, meaning that Windows laptop users cannot work on their documents natively when they are on-the-go in android devices or in location without internet access. Furthermore, the absence of iWork on Windows laptops or in android device limits their productivity and efficiency, as they cannot take advantage of the suite's advanced features and ease-of-use.

Continuing issues after trying memory foam ear tip in AirPods Pro

Most experts on the internet were of opinion that changing the Apple silicone ear tip with memory foam ear tip would resolve most of the initial AirPods Pro issues like loss of bass and the fitment issue in the ear. Since, I had similar issues with my AirPods pro, I had no option but to buy memory foam ear tip for my AirPods and thought the memory foam tip would solve all my issue, however it turned around. Following are my observations post switching from Apple’s silicone ear tip to memory foam ear tip

• No change in sound quality or Bass: Post changing to memory foam ear tip I thought the bass quality would improve and enhance Dolby Atmos sound quality. However, I could not find any difference between the existing Apple’s silicone ear tip and the memory foam ear tips. I tried the same video with similar environment condition and validated the sound quality in both ear tips. I found no difference in the sound quality or improvement in bass.
• No change in fitment issue or Ear Tip test: The main objective I had opted for memory foam ear tip was to eliminate fitment issues and ensure I get “Good Seal” outcome in Apple’s in-built fitment test. I tried out the test in same environment and similar conditions, the outcome did not have any change nor there was any improvement to the fitment test.

With above concerns, the shopping of memory foam was complete failure and on the positive note, I bought the memory foam through Amazon and had it covered through replacement eligibility. Long time Apple’s time machine problems and preference option

I always prefer to have backup options for my important work and as I spend most amount of time in my MacBook, I always prefer to get backed up or store files in cloud, so the important files are accessible even if there are any accidental damages or corruption in hard disk. Being in Apple ecosystem there is not many alternatives left other than time machine backups and there are few complications associated with the backup options available. Following are my concerns related to the time machine backups

• No preference for selection of Daily/weekly/monthly backups: Once time machine backup enabled, there is no option to select, whether you want to have your MAC backed up daily, weekly, or monthly. This has been a major constraint for most MAC users, as at times the time machine backs up some unwanted files and even if you may have deleted shortly.
• No option to access files through iOS devices or Windows system: The most common issue faced by MAC users while backing up in Time machine is that there is no option to access the files though other iOS devices or non-apple laptop devices. Users like me tend to use Time machine backups only during the critical times and may often need to access files through any means. However, there is no other option to access the Time machine backup files other than accessing through Mac operating system.

Must have photo backup features to be available in OneDrive

As stated in my earlier articles, I have chosen OneDrive as my preferred online cloud storage option and have started to backup all my important files to OneDrive including my large photo library. I have been using Google Photos as my preferred option for Photo’s backup and have migrated to OneDrive shortly. However, based on usage of both leading cloud storage service providers, I have following constraints while using photos backup in OneDrive over Google Photos.

• Year-wise sorting of photos from backup files: I have uploaded photos from my iPhone and copy pasted the old photo library from my MacBook to OneDrive. However, OneDrive organizes the photos based on the uploaded date, rather than organizing the photos based on actual month and year. 

• Option to exclude photos organizing into Photo library: OneDrive automatically imports all photos into the photo library; however, I am also using OneDrive to back-up my old system files and work files. In this scenario, sometimes there are few system images or pictures from the work files and OneDrive does not provide option to exclude those pictures or images from being imported into personal photo library. 

Hope, Microsoft addresses the above concerns at the earliest and enables users to have seamless experience in OneDrive over Google Photo. "G R Team Sites" have more such articles.

Smart option to import alternative Gmail contacts to iPhone

With iOS embracing so many enhancements and features for its users, there was one issue while transferring your phone's data from Android to iPhone, the import of contacts from old Gmail account into new iPhone. While I was figuring out different options available to import my alternative Gmail account contacts into my new iPhone, there was one smart option that was not readily available for users during my internet search. Following are my suggestion to import Gmail contacts to iPhone in the most easier way other than using any Apple's move to iOS app or any third-party application.

• Use computer: If you are trying to import contacts from your old or alternative or existing Gmail account, then login into the account from which you want to import your contact into iPhone.
• Navigate to contacts’ section: Post login through your computer, navigate to contacts section and validate the contacts that you want to move to your iPhone.
• Download/Export Contacts through .VCF format: Post validation, select and download all contacts that you want to move to iPhone in VCF format to your computer. 
• Mail the .VCF file to your iPhone: Post download, send the VCF contacts file through your mail account to yourself or the mail account synced in iPhone. 
• Open the .VCF file in iPhone's Mail app: Now open the .VCF file in iPhone's mail application and now you will be able to see the option to add all contacts to you iPhone. Voila! all your contacts are now imported into your iPhone.

NTFS Support in MacOS operating system

As state multiple times in my earlier article, Apple's MAC operating system has been my primary working platform and will do most of the stuff in my MacBook Pro. There has been situation, where the activities would have been much easier in MAC operating system and other activities that would have been much complicated. One such activity or the concern that I noticed while using my MAC is the NTFS support unavailability and would like to detail further about the complications in this article. Following are my observations

• Lack of write functionality: Even though MAC operating system has functionality to read NTFS formatted drives or USB devices, there is no option to copy paste the files from MAC to the external drive. Often either the USB drive or External hard disk had to be formatted completely for the files to be copied. I understand there are many external solutions available as software to enable write functionality in NTFS formatted files system, However, most of those software functionalities are either to be purchased or had to extensive research to find freeware solutions.
• Backward compatibility of MAC filesystem in Windows or other devices: Other concerning scenario is that, when the USB drive or external file device is formatted with MAC operating system, the files are not detected in most used Windows operating systems and other devices like music systems or TVs. Apple should have at least had commonly used filesystem for external drive or USB files. I understand that MAC enables users to format external devices or USB drive in FAT32 filesystem, however these filesystems are outdated and takes long time for the files to be copied. 

Hope, Apple brings this long-delayed NTFS filesystem support in its upcoming OS or at least have unified filesystem that are read by commonly used Windows Operating system devices and in other devices like music systems, TVs, etc. For more such articles, please feel free to check out the articles published in G R Team Sites. 

How to decide on giving mobile devices to the kids

I have detailed of how giving mobile phones to young kids will impact their life and thinking if they were exposed to unwanted and unrelated contents. Since COVID situation is here to stay and online classes will be the future, I also needed to look out for viable option due my kid. Following was the considerations for me on deciding how electronic device to be exposed to my kid. 

• App control: With Large number of applications available for free, the mobile device should have the ability to restrict only apps that are suitable for kids and for installing any application it should get authentication from the adult. 
• No Smaller screen: With most mobile phones are compact to hold and use. Their screen size is a major concern for kids, as they are glued to the smaller screen size, and it may impact their eyesight in long run. So, the tablet would be right option for kids to attend their classes online.

Products not released from Apple during April event

The Apple event has concluded on April 20th, and I was expecting few interesting products from Apple and eventually got disappointed. Below is the list of key products I was expecting from Apple:

• Low cost or entry level iPad: I was expecting Apple to launch new baseline category for iPad by integrating older processor with old design pattern and bring it into the market at most affordable pricing. Eventually, the probability was low, if at all it was launched it would have been stellar success for Apple. 
• Updated iPad mini: iPad mini was not updated for a long time and the design had not changed for an exceptionally long time. I was expecting Apple to adopt iPad Pro design to iPad mini and integrate with older version of processors with a slightly increased price. The probability was high on the product, but Apple had not made any statement or comment about the product in the scheduled event.

Reasons to move out of Google Photos

The fluctuation of getting paid online cloud storage choice was growing harder than ever before, because of two major reasons 

• Google has stopped unlimited photos storage and photos size will be counted against the Google account’s storage limit. Of course, this is ridiculous move, as it has now pushed me to lookout fire alternative online cloud storage choice with affordable pricing.

Android still missing out a much-needed in-built QR scanner

As I have said earlier, I am an Apple iPhone hardcore user and always seemed flawed when my friends or colleagues explain Android customization and its compatibility with USB devices. Even though both the above facts are true, at times Apple iPhone is far more superior to Android phones. Let me tell you about the contradicting situation that I met while using an iPhone. During one of the visits to the local shop, the shop owner advertised that the shop is now online, and all products can be ordered online. Moreover, the shop owner claimed, I can scan the shop's QR code at the counter and win surprising gifts. When I moved towards the counter, the shop owner insisted me to download the QR app on my phone to scan the QR code, and I responded that, the iPhone has an in-built universal QR code scanner, and it can be done in a second. When I showed the iPhone's camera QR code scanner functionality, he was astonished and was cursing Android, that it still does not have this much-needed feature. iPhone Xs, Xs Max & Xr Launch review

I am confused where to start, I am not even focusing on Apple Watch as the product is out of budget range and I’m not mostly into workouts or outdoor activities. So, coming to the iPhone launch, I was expecting something unique or at-least some new innovations which were not leaked in online, but to my surprise every announcement was predictable and analysts released all those even before the event. To be honest I felt really sleepy during the entire event and one moment they shook me up was the pricing of three iPhones, it was unbelievable. Coming to each product overview, first one was iPhone Xs 

• Most android users’ comment was that the phone was replica of last years' iPhone X and other than new color option nothing has changed
